Custom printed paper cups from 5,000 units
Most paper cup manufacturers in India will not print a custom design below 50,000 units, and many start at 100,000. Our minimum is 5,000 units per design. That is the whole proposition, and the rest of this page explains the trade-off honestly so you can decide whether it suits you.
Why minimums are normally so high
Nothing about a small order is technically difficult. The problem is that the cost sits at the front of the run:
- Printing plates are made per design, per colour. That cost is identical for 5,000 cups and 500,000.
- Press setup and colour matching takes the same operator time either way.
- Startup waste — the first stretch of a run is scrapped while registration is dialled in.
Across 100,000 cups those costs vanish into the unit price. Across 5,000 they are visible. Most manufacturers deal with this by refusing small runs. We price it in instead.

Ask for a quote at two quantities and compare — the per-unit gap is usually smaller than the cost of over-ordering a design you have not tested.
When a low MOQ is the right call
- You do not know your volume yet. A new outlet guessing at 50,000 cups is guessing with capital.
- The design is not final. Print 5,000, see it in customers' hands, adjust.
- It is a launch or a limited edition. Short runs by definition.
- Storage is tight. 50,000 cups is a lot of physical space.
- You are switching suppliers. Test on a small order before you commit.
And when a low MOQ is not the right call: if you already run steady high volume on a settled design, order larger and pay less per cup. We will tell you that rather than sell you a small run.

What is the minimum order for custom printed paper cups in India?
Most manufacturers set a minimum of 50,000 to 100,000 units per design for custom printing, because printing plates and press setup cost the same whether you run 5,000 cups or 500,000. Pratva’s minimum is 5,000 units per design.
Why are paper cup MOQs usually so high?
The fixed costs sit at the start of the run. Printing plates have to be made for each design and colour, the press has to be set up and colour-matched, and the first few hundred cups are wasted getting the registration right. Spread across 100,000 cups that cost disappears. Spread across 5,000 it is significant — which is why most suppliers simply decline small runs.
Does a smaller order cost more per cup?
Yes. Setup cost per unit is higher at 5,000 than at 50,000, and the price reflects that. The trade-off is that you are not buying 50,000 cups of a design you have not tested yet, or tying up capital in stock you will take a year to use.
Who is a low MOQ actually useful for?
New cafés and cloud kitchens that do not yet know their monthly volume. D2C brands running a launch or a limited edition. Event and festival organisers. Any business testing a new design before committing to a large run. And anyone whose storage space cannot absorb 50,000 cups.
Can I order plain unprinted cups in smaller quantities?
Plain stock has no plate or setup cost, so smaller quantities are easier. Sample packs are free and carry no minimum at all — request one before you order.
