Everything you need to know about aqueous coating, microplastics, certifications, and ordering from Pratva.

Aqueous Coating & Microplastics

Aqueous coating is a water-based barrier technology that bonds directly into paper cellulose fibres. Polyethylene (PE) coating is a separate plastic film laminated onto paper. PE-coated cups shed approximately 25,000 microplastic particles into hot beverages and cannot be recycled with normal paper waste. Aqueous-coated cups contain zero plastic polymer, shed zero microplastics, and are fully re-pulpable with standard paper recycling.
