Pratva was founded in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh — not in a tech hub or startup accelerator, but in an industrial zone where things get manufactured.

Our founder spent two years studying microplastic contamination in food-grade packaging. The data was unambiguous: every PE-coated paper cup sheds thousands of plastic particles into hot beverages. PLA-coated cups, marketed as ‘plant-based,’ are chemically still plastic polymers.

The breakthrough came from aqueous barrier coating technology — water-based compounds that bond directly into paper fibres instead of forming a separate plastic film. We partnered with CPPRI (Central Pulp and Paper Research Institute) to test and certify our process.

Today, Pratva supplies zero-microplastic packaging from Aligarh, serving hospitals, restaurants, cloud kitchens, and brands across North India. We work with CPPRI-certified manufacturing partners and apply strict quality controls on every batch.
